So this week was the National Letter of Intent (NLI) day. Northwest signed 34 high school kids. And I think that this is a great class. Joel Osborn as the recruiting coordinator has done an outstanding job in the past two years. NW has really started hitting the St Louis area as well as the entire state of Illinois. The 2011 recruiting class has turned out to be very disappointing. That year they inked 33 kids - and I think only 7-8 of those are still on the team. Granted there have been some major changes since the 2011 NLI day, that is still not a good ROI. This years recruiting class focused heavily on the lines. It appears that they have gotten some really good talent - let's home that they can stick around! Joe Quinlin's strength and conditioning program has been known to separate the men from the boys and cause more than one kid to decide that they couldn't handle being a Bearcat.
This list did not include any transfers - yet I've heard of at least 3 that are either coming or already at NW. Those include Michael Thompson a WR from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (JuCo), Reuben Thomas III, a WR from Utah State, and Korey Jackson, a WR from ASA Community College. I believe that Korey Jackson was a teammate of the Dixon bros at Juliet. Hopefully at least one of these WR's pans out - because other than Brice Young, there hasn't been a whole lot of production out of the WR's that are currently on the team. There is a lot of talent currently on the team - hopefully they can step up and reach their potential.
NW did sign 4 very good QB's in this class. It will be interesting to see in the coming years how that pans out. Will they all stay, or transfer, or change positions?
